The Bite: Anthropic will give all three branches of the U.S. government a one-year license for Claude for Enterprise and Claude for Government.

For just $1 per agency.

It’s a straight-up counterpunch to OpenAI’s move earlier this month, when it offered ChatGPT Enterprise to federal agencies for the same price.

• OpenAI’s earlier $1 offer targeted only the executive branch

Why it Bites: This is an AI arms race disguised as a dollar-store clearance bin.

Both companies know once you’re wired into government systems, you’re sticky.

Now D.C. gets to A/B test ChatGPT and Claude at taxpayer-friendly prices.

Whichever one wins the “pilot program” could own the federal AI stack for the next decade.

The matchup is giving less “which is better?”
And giving more “which fits your wallet and workflow?”
