Shopify has launched its AI "Sidekick" chatbot in early access as a part of its 2024 Summer Edition updates.

Sidekick is designed to assist merchants by creating discount codes, generating store reports, and suggesting blog post ideas.

Shopify is also introducing AI-powered product categorization to streamline listings and suggested replies for customer chats, maintaining human oversight for now.

Arizona Toddler Rescued From Tesla Trap

A 20-month-old child was rescued after being trapped in a Tesla Model Y in Scottsdale, Arizona, following the car's 12-volt battery failure, which powers door locks and windows.

The incident occurred during a week of temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. The child's grandmother, Renee Sanchez, was unable to open the car with her phone key or car key and called emergency services.

Firefighters used an ax to break a window and rescue the child.

TikTok released an internal version of its AI digital avatar tool without proper guardrails, which led to CNN discovering the issue and create videos containing offensive content.

CNN went on to generate videos that included quotes from Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and messages promoting harmful behavior.

However, TikTok quickly took down the flawed version and stated that the proper version, intended for businesses to create ads with AI avatars, remains available.
