Power Of Choice
EU’s DMA Is Changing Big Tech
Why did Apple and Google make it hard to switch default browsers for so many years?
Because it's a powerful way to block competitors.
Just look at what happened to Brave installs on iPhone in the EU when Apple rolled out a new default browser choice screen on March 6th:

The EU's Digital Markets Act [DMA] is enforcing major changes on Big Tech, targeting giants like Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, ByteDance, Meta, and Microsoft to combat total market control.
Key changes include Apple allowing alternative app stores on iOS, Meta making WhatsApp work with other messaging apps, and Google enabling EU users to control data sharing.
One example [shown in the tweet above] is Apple’s latest DMA-compliant update which doesn’t lock you into using Safari. You get to choose your default browser from a randomized list upon start up.
Unlocking Sora
OpenAI’s Text-To-Video Generator Available This Year
OpenAI is set to release Sora to the public later this year.
This tool, which has been initially available to visual artists, designers, and filmmakers, can create hyper realistic scenes from text prompts.
Mira Murati, OpenAI's CTO, mentioned in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that the release "could be a few months" away and revealed plans to enhance Sora with sound for more realistic scenes.
The operation of Sora is noted as "much more expensive" compared to other tools like DALL-E, but OpenAI intends to offer it at similar costs.

Perplexity Brings Yelp Data Into Chatbot
Perplexity is enhancing its chatbot capabilities by adding Yelp's extensive data, including maps, reviews, and other details into its responses, especially for those seeking restaurant recommendations.
This integration allows Perplexity to offer a better user experience, providing answers that include maps, photos, and quotes from reviews, along with links to Yelp pages for further information.
Unlike other chatbots that may generate suggestions based on internet-searched data, Perplexity's is going for direct, reliable information from Yelp’s rich database.
This integration is facilitated through Yelp’s Fusion program, which licenses data to third parties, enhancing the reliability and trustworthiness of Perplexity's local search results.

Bear Robotics Picks Up $60M From LG
Bear Robotics is a California-based startup [founded by an ex-Google engineer] specializing in AI-powered server robots for restaurants, and LG threw $60M on the table to get in on the Servi action.
“As the service robot market enters a period of growth, this equity investment will significantly contribute to securing a ‘Winning competitive edge’ for the company.”
This investment is on par with LG's strategic shift towards growth areas like smart homes, IoT, EV components, and AI robotics, following its failure in the smartphone market in 2021.
LG aims to use this investment to nurture its robotics business as a new growth engine, leveraging advanced technologies like Embodied AI.
