AI-Powered Side Hustle Series: Day Two 💰
Yesterday, we talked about how you can earn passive income from AI generated images sold on Adobe Stock.
And now, we’re going to switch over to a new earning opportunity: selling books on Amazon.
This is another one of those high-traffic ideas from the beginning of 2023 that sounded epic, however not many people stuck with it - they’re too busy chasing the trends.
Let me be the first to inform you: It works, but only after YOU put in the work.
I created a digital asset that's made me over $45,000 on Amazon
I only needed these online tools to make it:

- Creative Fabrica

#1: Books on Amazon
Just as you could sell your AI images on Adobe, you can pivot your creative efforts towards crafting low-content books and coloring books through Amazon KDP.
The demand for such products is driven by individuals seeking therapeutic, creative, and educational experiences for themselves or their children.
Amazon KDP is free to publish on, and authors receive royalties of 35% to 70% of the sale price.
Low-content books contain minimal written content outside of the title, introduction, and brief instructions. Journals, planners, activity books, sketchbooks, and affirmation journals would all be considered low-content books.
Coloring books… well, I don’t really think I need to explain what they are.
The key to selling any type of book on Amazon is having a search optimized title and description, and cover art that practically sells the book itself.
Luckily, we’re living in the age of AI, so you can use ChatGPT to handle all the SEO and Midjourney to create your cover art [and your coloring pages].
Coloring books are one of the most popular and profitable genres in the self-publishing industry. They are typically 16 to 60 pages with black-and-white line art, and sized at 8.5” x 11”.
What’s the best route to take?
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where you’ll find the most success, but many people start in coloring books and slowly transition into low-content books or public domain reformatting as they learn the platform, the approval process, and what sells.
“Wait a minute, what is public domain reformatting? You never said anything about that.”
Ah yes, the holy grail of expired copyrights.
You see, books aren’t covered by copyright forever.
Classics like Moby-Dick, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Dracula, or The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes are all available for you to re-use and re-format in your own style.
You could take these dusty classics, slap a fresh coat of Midjourney paint, reformat the interior, and list it back on Amazon.
And yes, this really works too.
Paperbacks on Amazon are usually priced between $9.99 and $19.99.
What are the pros?
Creating a coloring book or a low-content book is easy if you’re good at following guidelines/instructions.
Published books have the potential to earn money for a long time.
Each purchase, whether it’s an ebook or a physical print, puts money in your pocket.
What are the cons?
You need to follow their KDP guidelines or your books won’t get approved.
Generating a book from scratch and properly formatting can take a few hours - on average, it took us about 4 hours.
You won’t be able to use popular brands or pop culture characters as they’re covered by copyright.
Books may require a little bit of ad money to jumpstart sales and rank better in searches if they’re in a popular niche.
Note: While you have the legal right to republish public domain works, consider the ethical implications of your actions. Adding value to the content, providing accurate information, and maintaining quality can contribute to the overall reception of your re-published work.
