Google Tests ‘Ask Photos’ AI Assistant

Google is testing a new feature called "Ask Photos" for select Google Labs users in the US — this tool allows users to ask questions about their photo library, like "Where did we camp last time?" or "What did we eat at the hotel?" and will provide relevant images and responses.

In addition, Google has revamped its photo search capabilities to allow users to search images using natural language descriptions. The updated features are rolling out globally, with more language support coming soon.

WhatsApp to Support Third-Party Chats in the EU

Meta revealed plans to integrate third-party messaging into WhatsApp and Messenger for users in the European Union. The feature will allow messages from other apps, like iMessage and Telegram, to appear in the same inbox as WhatsApp and Messenger messages or be kept separate.

Notifications will alert users when third-party apps are supported, and Meta will add features such as reactions, direct replies, and read receipts.

The feature complies with the EU's Digital Markets Act, and support for third-party voice and video calls is expected by 2027
