OpenAI Claims Its AI Can Write Better Fiction

Cerebras is Opening AI Data Centers to Challenge Nvidia
Cerebras Systems is expanding its AI infrastructure big time, launching data centers in the U.S., Canada, and France. These facilities will run on its massive wafer-scale chips, which crank out AI inferences at blazing speeds. However, Cerebras’ chips aren’t CUDA-compatible, so integration could be tricky.

IBM’s CEO Says AI Won’t Replace Programmers Anytime Soon

IBM’s CEO Arvind Krishna has some thoughts on AI, and spoiler alert: he doesn’t think it’s coming for all the programming jobs—at least, not yet.

He estimates AI will write about 20-30% of code, not the dystopian 90% some are fearing. Instead of wiping out jobs, AI will make programmers more productive (and conveniently, IBM sells those helpful AI tools). Krishna also took some shots at AI’s ability to generate new knowledge, claiming quantum computing is where the real breakthroughs will happen.

But, you know, IBM just happens to be big on quantum too.

AI Agents, Assemble!
OpenAI Drops New Tools for Smarter AI Agents

OpenAI is rolling out new APIs and tools aimed at making AI agents more useful and independent.

The Responses API combines features from existing services, adding web search, file management, and even computer control. The web search tool leverages GPT-4o, while the file search function helps users sift through large data troves. The most interesting (and chaotic) addition? An AI that can use a computer—although with only a 38.1% success rate, it's not exactly Skynet just yet.

Pricing varies, and OpenAI says these tools won’t train future models. The future of AI automation just got a big upgrade.
