Light Phone 3 Is Less Light But More Usable

The Light Phone company is known for its minimalist phones, and their latest, the Light Phone 3, ditches the E Ink screen for a more user-friendly OLED display and adds a camera.

While it moves away from the super-basic design, it offers features users requested like a camera, brighter screen, and future-proofing tech like USB-C charging.

It's available for preorder now, but the final price is undetermined.

Android Tests Anti-Theft AI in Brazil

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

Google is rolling out an anti-theft feature for Android 15 in beta testing, but only for users in Brazil for now. This AI-powered tool uses motion sensors and other clues to detect phone thefts and automatically lock the device.

Brazil was chosen due to its high rate of phone thefts. If you live there, you can sign up to test the feature called Theft Detection Lock.

This is part of a larger security push for Android 15, which will also include a password-protected area for sensitive apps.

The ball-park isn’t the only place to look for home runs. Best Buy has a proven record of placing early bets on home-tech products that go on to dominate the market.

  • Ring - acquired by Amazon for $1.2B

  • Nest - acquired by Google for $3.2B

Pay attention, because Best Buy just unveiled a new smart-home product in 100+ stores with massive potential – RYSE Smart Shades. RYSE is positioned to dominate the smart shades market (currently growing 50% annually) and there’s still time to invest in their $1.50/share public offering.

Their share price has risen 50% year-over-year, with strong upside as they scale into retail. Missed out on Ring and Nest? This is your chance to secure your stake in the smart home market.
