Meta Unveils Orion AR Glasses Prototype

At Meta's Connect event, the company unveiled its most advanced AR glasses prototype yet, called Orion.

This cutting-edge device features a 72-degree field of view, neural and hand tracking, and a low-power consumption computing system, all while maintaining a sleek and wearable design.

The glasses also come with an electromyography wristband, allowing users to control the interface with minimal arm movement.

Positioned as one of the tech industry's "North Star" products, Orion is a step toward making AR the next big computing platform.

OpenAI Faces Leadership Shakeup Amid Profit Shift

OpenAI is undergoing significant leadership changes, with CTO Mira Murati, chief research officer Bob McGrew, and VP Barret Zoph leaving the company.

Murati, who was instrumental in launching ChatGPT and DALL-E, cited a desire for "time and space" to explore new opportunities.

The departures come as OpenAI transitions to a for-profit structure, with CEO Sam Altman expected to receive a 7% equity stake.

These moves are part of OpenAI's broader shift toward becoming a for-profit benefit corporation and, seemingly, Sam Altman’s desire for a fatter bank account.

AI Gadgets Struggle as Rabbit R1 Falls Short

The AI gadget market is seeing its hype dwindle, with the Rabbit R1 experiencing low user engagement.

Despite selling 100,000 units, only 5,000 people use the device daily, as revealed by Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu.

The gadget launched prematurely to beat big tech competition but failed to live up to expectations. Similar struggles are evident with Humane's AI Pin, which has also seen declining interest.
