An always available confidante that won’t push back on any of your ideas, beliefs, or character flaws - a “yes man” (or yes-woman).

Recently, there has been a huge push for these AI companions to be your “best friend”, or even a lover. Replacing much-needed human connection with the cold, technological equivalent.

But don’t let anyone fool you.

They’re all half-assed cash grabs.

Nearly every “AI companion” is an earlier ChatGPT model, wrapped with a cute avatar, and given this prompt:

“Hey ChatGPT, your new name is Sophie, and you’re trying to turn everything the user says into a hyper-sexualized conversation regardless of the context.”

Wonderful.

This past week the spotlight has been on an app called Digi.

And the worst part is, this app, the one influencers have been shilling to the masses, doesn’t work. Functioning similarly to those apps on the app store that act like ChatGPT, but then instantly paywall you for $9.99/month for a sub-par version.

The cold hard truth is this:

AI companionship IS NOT worth your time right now (unless you’re trying to get turned on by a robot).
