Real Photo Wins AI-Generation Contest

Photographer Miles Astray submitted his photo of a flamingo that appears to be headless to the AI category of the 1839 Awards, and his image won the Bronze award and the Peopleā€™s Vote Award.

However, it was later disqualified after the organizers discovered it was not AI-generated.

Iā€™m glad to see that this experiment confirmed my hypothesis: there is nothing more fantastic and creative than Mother Nature herself. I donā€™t demonize the new technology and see its potential, but currently I see its limitations and dangers even more clearly.

Little Tweaks
Updates They Didnā€™t Tell You At The Apple Event

@verge

As usual, Apple left plenty of cool features out of its WWDC keynote. Here are some of our favorites. #wwdc #apple #ios18 #techtok

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2024 had many exciting announcements, particularly around AI. However, there were plenty of small features that went unnoticed, like the following:

  • iPhone bezels now have a clever animation when pressing side buttons, making it look like youā€™re pushing the bezel into the screen.

  • iOS 18 allows bilingual typing, letting you seamlessly switch between languages like Spanish and English without toggling settings.

  • The flashlight app on iPhone 15 Pro now features a fun animation that lets you adjust luminance and beam shape by swiping.

  • Widget customization in iOS 18 is easier, with size options available directly in the contextual menu when long-pressing a widget.

  • The Vision Pro headset can now show your keyboard in a virtual environment, improving usability for immersive work scenarios.

  • Voicemail transcriptions now appear directly in notifications, saving you time and taps.

  • iPhone 15 devices now have more granular charging limit options, with a slider allowing stops every 5 percent between 80 and 100 percent.

As developers, we know how important it is to test your code. But writing non-trivial tests that actually check code functionality is tedious, frustrating, and can take half your day.

With CodiumAI you can:

ā Generating meaningful tests for busy devs;

šŸ”„ Get non-trivial analysis (and trivial, too!) suggested right inside your IDE or Git platform;

šŸ‘‰ Code smart and stay confident when you push. Code, as you meant it.

Highly Ergonomic
ā€˜The Magic Mouseā€™ by Apple

In a recent podcast episode hosted by tech influencer Marques Brownlee, Apple CEO Tim Cook addressed the long-standing criticism of the Magic Mouse's design.

When asked about the mouse, known by everyone for its impractical charging port located on the bottom, Cook emphasized how ā€œergonomicsā€ were key in its design.

Marques, visibly skeptical, gave Cook a questioning look, highlighting the absurdity of the charging port placement.
