The Bite: According to Bloomberg, Apple recently approach Google about building a custom AI model to actually make Siri good…

The new and improved Siri could be slated for 2026 and nothing in confirmed or officially announced.

Apple is still weighing their options: In-house model or outsourced.

Sources say we should get an announcement on their decision sometime this week.

Snacks:

Still early talks: No deal signed or announced yet.
Google reportedly is training a model on Apple’s servers.
Apple also explored OpenAI and Anthropic for the Siri overhaul.
Apple’s AI rollout has severely lagged behind the rest of the industry.
Market Reaction: Alphabet and Apple shares ticked up after the report.

Why it Bites: We all know Apple’s been lagging behind in AI.

And if you’re an iPhone user, you already know that the current Siri sucks…

Literally worse than it was a year ago. How? We have no idea.

Anyway, if they outsource their AI integration it could start to blur the lines between platforms, operating systems, hardware, etc…

Besides Samsung, you could argue Google is Apple’s biggest competitor.

And with the latest Pixel including EVEN MORE Gemini features; Google helping Apple integrate Gemeni into Siri doesn’t really add up.

📺 Creators Claim: “YouTube is Changing My Vids w/ AI”

The Bite: YouTube has been quietly applying AI “enhancements” (think clarity and color tweaks) to select user uploads without uploaders knowledge.

This has sparked creator backlash over consent and artistic control.

One creator that runs his videos through a VCR/VHS to get that 80s aesthetic noticed a clear change in his intended vibe:
"They do not look the same after I upload anymore”

The company has downplayed it as a limited test aimed at improving viewer experience, according to reporting.

YouTube said it’s step toward more AI features.
YouTube said the edits are a ‘small test’, not a broad rollout.
Creators noticed quality changes and pushing back over loss of control.
AI clarity/color adjustments appeared on some videos without creators’ permission, per the report.
The report said there was no label or identifier for the uploader or a viewer to know if a video was adjusted using AI.

Why it bites: Is this a shift towards a version of the future where homogeneity is valued 1st and creativity 2nd? (or at all…)

When a platform auto-enhances grain, noise, frame rate, etc…, without consent; ‘Punk’ gets airbrushed.

Old school looks aren’t just a vibe preference, they are historical artifacts.

Some old videos can ONLY be found on YouTube.
If one day their AI goes rogue and starts upscaling every low quality video, our artifacts could disappear.

Here’s the real deal: Platforms prioritize watch time, which prioritizes ad views by default.

If that priority stays the same, don’t expect the creatives or the historians to win.
