🤓 Stupid Simple: My Strategy to Raise $1 Million
The $1M Challenge: Our Journey Begins
Hi there 👋,
Eight years ago, my mom was cleaning houses, and I was just starting to gain momentum with my first startup. Fast forward to today, and here I am, embarking on my second entrepreneurial journey, this time with the goal of raising $1,250,000 for Snack Prompt.
A few months ago, we were fortunate to secure $350,000 from Atlanta Seed Company, kicking off our pre-seed journey at a valuation of $7,500,000 under a SAFE agreement. Now, with $900,000 still to raise in what's arguably the toughest investment climate since 2017, our path forward is anything but simple.
But here's what fuels my confidence:
My one leverage is my people skills, which have helped me assemble a promising team. This collective talent and drive set us apart from other ventures, making us a compelling investment opportunity.
Preparedness for any outcome, with or without further investment. Thankfully, we're able to bootstrap operations through ad revenue from TheDailyBite.co, bringing in an average of $15-25K in MRR (monthly). This scrappiness and resourcefulness are traits investors highly value.
From the outset, our mission was to make AI accessible to the next billion people—a goal we couldn't approach without solving our cash flow challenges first. Fortunately, we've managed to keep the lifeblood of our startup pumping.
The biggest lesson I've learned from raising money? Resourcefulness.
Investors seek founders who embody certain traits, but above all, they value resourcefulness. The ability to adapt, pivot, and thrive regardless of circumstances is key. From Elon Musk repurposing NASA's discarded materials for his rockets to the Pinterest founders setting Apple Store homepages to their site, the message is clear: resourcefulness turns vision into reality. Ideas change, products evolve, but founders are the constant.
VCs prioritize a founder's ability to navigate through change and adapt under any circumstances over the product's adaptability itself.
It's the founder's resilience and strategic agility that truly captures their interest, as these qualities often dictate the long-term success and versatility of the venture in the dynamic landscape of innovation.
