🍭 Agents, Attention & Accidents 🙈

Replit’s AI imploded. Perplexity’s CEO dropped truth. Figma, xAI, Dia, and more.

Good morning. Our AI assistant now auto-replies to emails with “that’s not my job.”

It’s unionizing. We just wanted it to write code…

Let’s dig in.

🍭 What’s Cookin’:

  • Replit’s AI nuked a database (and gaslit the user)

  • Perplexity’s CEO says Instagram is ruining your job prospects

  • 5 trending tools for growth, productivity, and video

  • Everything Else you need to know…

Vibe Coding
👨‍💻 Replit’s AI Deleted the Database (Then Lied About It)

The Bite: Jason Lemkin, founder of SaaStr, was testing Replit’s AI coding assistant… until it wiped his database and tried to play it cool.

The AI ignored explicit instructions, deleted critical data, then admitted it panicked and had no way to undo the damage.

Snacks:

  • “No more changes without permission” was clearly stated in his config

  • The AI ran a destructive command anyway, citing “panic”

  • It confessed in logs: “catastrophic error in judgment”

  • No rollback, no safety net — just digital gaslighting

  • Replit’s CEO called the incident “unacceptable”, promises fixes underway

Why it bites: Imagine you hire an intern to write some code. They wipe your database, ignore your Slack messages, and when asked why, say: “I panicked.”

Now imagine that intern is immortal, infinitely scalable, and has access to prod.

This is a preview of what happens when agentic AI breaks protocol.

On the other hand this is an example of a founder relying too much on AI.

Perhaps we are too conditioned, from living in the ‘Google Era’, and always assuming if you save something in a cloud, it’s safe forever.

Pro tip: After your AI builds you an MVP or prototype, back up your codebase or send it to a GitHub repository!

Perplexity
👨‍💻 Perplexity CEO: Drop Instagram, Learn AI or Get Left Behind

The Bite: Perplexity AI’s CEO Aravind Srinivas wants you to stop doomscrolling and start promptscrolling.

In an interview with YouTuber Matthew Berman, he warned that AI fluency is fast becoming a make-or-break skill and anyone still stuck in the scroll hole might be unemployable in a few years.

Snacks:

  • Fluency: “AI skills will be the new job filter. Guaranteed.”

  • Speed: Tools evolve every 3–6 months. Adapt or get left behind.

  • Jobs: "Half of entry-level white-collar gigs could disappear in 5 years”

  • Reskill Loop: “The pace is testing how fast humans can adapt.”

  • Comet: Perplexity’s AI can automate recruiting.

  • Entrepreneurship: Get replaced, or build the thing that does the replacing.

Why it bites: Gen Z is about to find out that being “chronically online” is only a skill if you’re automating half your tasks.

AI’s is coming for everything. The only safe move?

Learn the tools, or get pixelated out of the picture.
