WTF Is Happening In Hollywood?

Humans fight for their jobs while AI evolves...

Human Talent Is Dead 🧟

The charm of cinema lies in the human touch.

The director’s unique vision, the actor’s emotive prowess, and the scriptwriter’s witty banter… or does it?

Maybe robots are on the path to take home an Oscar - thanking their programmers for all their inputs & code support.

It’s a topic that tickles the imagination and ignites debate over whether AI is the true visionary or just an overhyped, malfunctioning popcorn maker.

Writers and actors have been on strike for more than two months to try and secure their future because ‘robots’ are gunning for their jobs.

Are companies preparing for a world without human employees?

SAG-AFTRA, the guild in charge of protecting the working rights of film, television, and radio performers, alleged that one of the reasons they’re on strike is because a recent deal would’ve required background actors from major productions be digitally scanned after being hired for just one day.

Then, those scans could be re-used and re-purposed however the studio deemed fit… forever.

Not only that, but Netflix’s recent job posting asks for a machine learning platform product manager with an annual salary between $300,000 to $900,000.

Is the music industry next?

While many celebrities can’t afford to lose the work they’re lucky enough to get, AI experts are looking $3,500 per day - compared to actors making around $200 per day.

The goal of the strike doesn’t seem to be a total ban on AI, but regulation in the industry is needed fast.

AI Is Making Videos That Actually Look Good 🚀

As Hollywood remains stagnant, movie-making technology evolves.

Creators now have the power to bring still images to life. Turning them into in-depth motion pictures.

A recent example of this evolution is the pairing of RunwayML’s latest feature with Midjourney v5.2.

This powerful combination is redefining how artists, developers, and digital creatives make visual stories by generating animated pictures that look and feel like the real thing.

Now, the individual with big dreams and little resources can create full feature productions from their home.

No set. No cameras. Just a laptop.

Runway has always been at the forefront of AI-driven tools designed for creators, and its Gen-2 update brings forth new goodies to explore.

The image-to-video feature is gaining incredible traction across Twitter and YouTube.

As the name suggests, this feature allows users to transform static images into dynamic video sequences by employing advanced machine learning algorithms capable of predicting movements, transitions, and animations from a single shot.
