The Dominoes Are About to Fall

But here I amā¦
Drinking a cappuccino inside the coffee shop I built in my mid-twenties.
A place that meant so much to me.
I picked the tile. Designed the layout. Built the brand by hand.
And today⦠Iām sitting here asking myself a question I never thought Iād have to answer:
If a $20k robot barista could replace my staff⦠would I do it?
My honest answer?
Probably not⦠at first.
But if the shop down the street adopts robot baristas, starts making drinks faster, serves more people, cuts costsāand slowly starts pulling my customers away?
Iād have no choice.
I swore I wouldnāt write about this.
Losing your job to AI.
𤮠Blegh. Just saying it feels gross.
But we need to have this conversation.
Just⦠through a different lens. It gets good!
A Friend Recently Called⦠and Shared thisā¦
A childhood friend of mineāPhD in Financeāgot hired to oversee a warehouse for a multi-billion-dollar company.
But hereās the kicker:
The entire warehouse was run by robots.
No staff. No chaos. Just machines doing the work.
His only job?
Make the robots more efficient⦠until they didnāt need him either.
Yeah... this isnāt a āsomedayā thing. Itās now.
He lasted almost two years.
And when I asked him why he quit, he paused and said something I wonāt forget:
āItās hard to stay somewhere that doesnāt need people anymore.ā
Automation = Robotics
Robotics = Automation
When I talk to investors, I always frame it like this:
Automation is the software version of robotics.
Robotics is the hardware version of automation.
Same idea. Different packaging.
And soon, theyāll become the MAIN conversation in every company.
You wonāt even notice it happeningāuntil one day it feels like it happened overnight.
Honestly, itās hard to imagine many jobs that wonāt be affected by this. Itās one thing if AI only impacted digital work, but itās the physical world to. Robots + AI = humans that can work non stop. That can do just about anythingā¦
1 Human for Every 10 Robots
Thatās my prediction.
Tesla factories might soon run 80ā90% on robots.
Eventually?
1x human manages 10x machines.
Then robots manage other robots.
1x human for 50x machines.
Then 100x.
Then none.
This isnāt 2035 science fiction ā itās this year.
Itās happening faster than anyone expected.
This is already being tested.
These robots?
Theyāre Humans 2.0⦠in a way
Hereās how I see the Tesla timeline playing out:
Next 12ā24 months (my prediction):
ā Tesla deploys factory robots
ā Output doubles
ā Costs drop 40%
ā Car prices drop 20%
ā Other carmakers canāt compete
ā Other car makers follows suit
ā Millions of jobs displaced
ā Other industries follows suit
ā More jobs displaced
This is still very far from our final form

AI Takes the Call
In high school, I worked in call centers.
At one job, I automated 60% of my tasks. Showed my manager. Got promoted.
But they never rolled it out.
Why?
They didnāt need to.
Paying people to stay inefficient still workedābecause the competition hadnāt changed yet.
Today, there are 3 million Americans in call centers.
But one startupābuilt entirely on ChatGPTāwill soon offer those same services:
Cheaper. Faster. No burnout. No sleep.
It only takes one call center to flip the switch.
Once they 10x productivity and slash costs?
The dominoes fall.
Everyone else either adapts⦠or goes out of business.
The Rules Have Changed
Old Rule:
āTake your time. You donāt have to adopt every new thing.ā
New Rule:
āResist innovationāand risk dying. Slowly... or quickly.ā
Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Prize winner) said it best:
āWe prefer what we can predict and controlāeven if itās less profitable.ā
Thatās why million-dollar companies stillā¦
Donāt have a Google Business listing
Donāt run ads
Donāt do social
They āgrew by word of mouthā⦠and stayed stuck there.
I was the same.
Even after 10 years running a digital agency, when I launched my coffee brandāI avoided the basics.
No ads.
No social.
No Google profile.
Why?
Because I wanted to believe the product would be enough.
And thankfully, for a while⦠it was.
But not anymore.
Resisting now = irrelevance later.
So⦠What Happens Now?
AI is out for everything⦠and everyone. We will start to see some of our friends loose their job soon.
Farmers.
Drivers.
Call center reps.
Copywriters.
Coders.
A lot of jobs will be replaced.
Machines donāt sleep.
Eventually, theyāll outperform us at most things.
But thatās not the end of the story.

Thereās a song I used to love growing up.
Itās called Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot.
The message?
āDonāt run from the storm.
Say hello.
Lean in.ā
This is the storm.
Letās lean in.
